Truffle Hunting

Name:

Discover Pinares

Description:

Truffle hunting is often referred to as “hunting truffles” by truffle hunters. Truffle dogs are the most convenient, suitable, and legally permitted tool.

When the dog, usually trained, finds a truffle, it stops, sniffs the ground, scratches it a little with its front paws, and waits, wagging its tail, for the owner to approach, requesting the corresponding reward. It is the truffle hunter who, with a sturdy dagger-shaped machete, carefully, feeling through the machete where the fungus is, finishes unearthing the truffle, lets the animal smell it, and rewards it appropriately.

Today, truffle cultivation in the province is a promising project for present and future development for rural areas. Therefore, around the black truffle of Soria there are a series of events to publicize this wonderful delicacy, and steps are being taken to finalize the twinning with the Italian Piedmont to jointly promote the black truffle of Soria and the white truffle of Alba.
