Living Labs Teruel
The Provincial Council of Teruel, the Association of Truffle Growers of Teruel (ATRUTER) and the European Mycological Institute (EMI) are organizing within the framework of the Mycotour project project, this meeting in the format of a living laboratory or “Living Lab”, with the aim of promoting a space for the exchange of knowledge and co-creation of ideas and projects for the improvement and internationalization of truffle tourism opportunities in the production areas. To this end, we will have the participation of experts in truffle and truffle farming, gastronomy, tourism, communication and science from France, Italy, Sweden, USA, Switzerland and Spain.
During the event we will present some of the results of the Mycotour project, such as the Teruel Truffle Experiential Park and the Teruel Truffle Brotherhood. We will be able to meet local truffle farmers, visit the truffle landscapes of the area, enjoy the experience of live truffle hunting, taste the black truffle (Tuber melanosporum) and other local products in several restaurants in the area, visit the Tuber Universum Truffle Museum, the Fitruf Truffle Fair and, especially on this occasion, exchange experiences with all the international guests of the event.
This truffle-growing area, located in the region of Gúdar-Javalambre (Teruel, Spain), is currently home to the world’s largest black truffle (Tuber melanosporum) production center. Despite the beauty of its villages and landscapes, it is one of the most depopulated places in Europe, but where the black truffle has managed to revive the local economy and local communities are open to cooperation, innovation and improvements that contribute to the development and diversification of business models around the truffle and truffle tourism.
